What is Endometriosis?

Endometriosis (endo) is...

A condition affecting those assigned female at birth.

It happens when the cells similar to the lining of the womb grow outside the uterus.

The tissue can be found in various parts of the body, including the brain, lungs and other major organs.

Many of us with endo...

Experience significant discomfort during different stages of our cycle.

Sensations such as twinging, pulling, burning, stabbing can make everyday activities feel

overwhelming. Pain is a major symptom, but it’s not the only one.

Common symptoms

  • Pain during / after sex
  • Pelvic pain
  • Painful periods
  • Fatigue
  • Difficulty with work and social events
  • Heavy bleeding
  • Depression
  • Isolation

Despite what you might have heard, endo isn’t solely a period problem.

It’s a whole-body issue. Unlike monthly periods, endo can cause pain and discomfort through the month, affecting each person differently.

Traditional treatments like contraception or hysterectomy may address the symptoms for a short while but they don’t tackle the root of the issue.

‘Every experience of endo is unique’

As a matter of fact...

The immune system experiences dysfunction and dysregulation when managing inflammation. The condition has not been labelled an auto-immune disease, but is seen as a chronic disease. There is a correlation for many who experience certain auto-immune dysfunction such as allergies, asthma, hayfever, etc.

Currently, the only way to get a definitive diagnosis is via a laparoscopy. For doctors to come to this conclusion, it can take 8-10 years for a diagnosis, as endo is frequently confused for conditions like IBS or fibroids.

Natural healing

Your body thrives as a natural organism, on natural methods. Many synthetic medicines offer temporary relief, they suppress rather than address the root cause. Natural modalities can help your body restore balance.

Finding balance

There are three key elements of the human experience I will always talk upon - mental, physical and emotional. Balance isn’t about being perfect; it’s understanding that some days may be tougher than others.
